I have Windows XP and it came with Norton Anti-Virus. I bought McAfee Internet Security Suite. How do I switch it all over and make it work? Should I delete Norton before installing McAfee and once McAfee is installed what options do I pick that will work with XP?

  1. Yeah, all I ever hear is that it's not a good idea to have two different anti-virus softwares on your PC at the same time.

Be careful with removing Norton from your PC. In the past couple of years, they've made it a pain to completely delete their software.

Jump on Google and do a quick search for "norton removal", and you'll see the "utility" offered by Symantec (Norton) to remove all of Norton from your PC.

  2. Go to Norton site and get the uninstall program and delete. Then restart and make sure Norton is no longer there, and then install your new software, having Norton on your system could corrupt the install of the new software. Been there done that.

  3. uninstall Norton first - through control panel, add/remove programs - scroll down until you find Norton/Symantec then click remove.

    Reboot.

Install McAfee.  Just take the defaults.

  4. Uninstall Norton first.

Restart comp and then install watever.

Btw u should get AVG its free and one of the best anti virus out there. It secures you from everything such as email attatchments to internet corrupt websites.

    Just google AVG

  5. Install McAfee, as soon as you see the program is about to finish disable Norton, they later you can uninstall it......

I don't see why you bought McAfee, seeing as avira antvir is free and you can find it online....I think it's way better than McAfee but that is just me.
