  4. Hi fool222,

This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team responding to your question about Norton 360 and Java.

First, make sure that you do not have any other third-party firewall running, including the Windows Firewall.  You never want to have more than one firewall running as it can cause conflicts and leave your computer vulnerable to attack.

Next,  open Norton 360 and click on "Check for Updates" under the "PC Security" bubble.  After LiveUpdate has completed, you may be asked to restart your computer.  Next, open Norton 360 and perform a "Comprehensive Scan" on your computer to check for infections.

Next, close Norton 360, then right-click on the Norton 360 icon in the Taskbar and disable "Auto-Protect" and the "Norton Firewall. " Clear out the temporary internet files and cookies from your browser and then download and install Java.

After Java has been successfully installed, restart your computer and then check to make sure that both Auto-protect and the Norton Firewall are enabled.

    Thank you,

    Mike
