  1. If Norway joins EU will pressure Norway to lower taxes population will increase fishing industry will be distorted by EU counties  and Norway has been occupied for so long that so the Norwegian people don't want to join

and what does EU really have to offer Norway?

  2. Not if they are wise.

Under the Lisbon Treaty and the new European Union Federation of states, Norwegian citizens would not be able to vote for or vote out EU Commissioners and Councillors nor their policies if they do not like them. Even if all of Norway's citizens unanimously petitioned a law that came out of the EU commission, the EU commission is under no obligation to change its policy. The proposed structure of the new EU will have unaccountable EU Commissioners and unelected Councillors, and Presidents. The unnacountability goes more so for the European Central Bank. The politicians that people are allowed to vote to represent them at European Parliament level, the MEP’s, are effectively toothless because it will be the Council that initiates the legislation and the Commission that will approve all laws.

What a great deal for Norway, eh?

  3. Norway is smart, they do not want to lose thier culture and blood.

  4. Unlikely, seeing as Norway has had 3 referendums over the past 40 years on accession.

As I understand it, the reason Norway is reluctant to join is because EU membership would put Norwegian agriculture under intense competition and pressure from other EU Member States which produce more, with greater variance, and at cheaper prices.  It would basically seriously undermine Norwegian agriculture which is a large portion of Norwegian GDP.

The last referendum (in 1992 I think) only failed by a narrow margin.

  5. not if they have got any sense, still i don't mind the uk moving out to let them in. good riddance i'd say.

  6. Oil is the reason Norway didn't join.  They have their own wealth.

I'm not aware of them changing their decision on joining the EU, I would imagine its still a long way off.

  7. Norway has had to adopt much EU law anyway because of trade requirements
