Norway’s Jannicke Stalstrom clinches overall lead of RS:X Women fleet: 2012 Delta Lloyd Regatta
Third day of the 2012 Delta Lloyd Regatta brought good news to the Norwegian sailor, Jannicke Stalstrom who had a tremendous sail on the Medemblik waters and was able to clinch the overall lead with 25 points after taking part in 10 races, including one
discard race.
The opening day of the regatta was an outstanding start for the Norwegian sailor as she cruised into two bullet victories in the first two races. She finished on second podium place in the third race of Day 1 to clinch four points and lead the fleet.
However, the second day of the regatta did not go according to the expectations and she tumbled down to lower standing position after hitting a fourth and two sixth finishes. Due to lower podium places on the second day races, Jannicke slipped to the second
position in the standings.
However, she sailed impressively on the third day and was able to get back in business. The Norwegian sailor took one bullet along with two second finishes on the third day to hit the top spot in the overall standings.
Nevertheless, she is equally challenged by the second placed, Hong Kong’s Hei Man Hayley Victoria Chan. The fourth day proceedings will be decisive for both sailors.
