Which are the most spectacular Norwegian fjords and why?

The most spectacular fjord is, at least i my opinion. Storfjorden, leading in to Geiranger. This fjord passes through the most alpine mountains in Norway.

Sognefjorden i not far behind, especially if you include the arm Nærøyfjorden reaching deep into the Jostedalsbreen Glacier massive.

Also Hardangerfjorden and Nordfjord will take your breath away. Romsdalsfjorden is may be not so spectacular by itself, but is is different with its many small island and a magnificent view to 100 mountain peak to the south.

I have now mentioned all the major fjords from just south of Bergen and 300-400 km north.

You will also find some nice fjords in the north, the small ones around Lofoten, and Lyngenfjorden with Lyngsalpene mountains. And you will find very scenic landscape along most fjords in Norway, and they are all different.

Trondheimsfjorden, Boknafjorden and Oslofjorden are less typical among the long fjords, and in my opinion less dramatic. But if you have not seen a real fjord before, be ready for something new here, too.
