Norwich City beat Nottingham Forest 2-1 to move into the second spot: Npower Championship news

Norwich City beat Nottingham Forest 2-1 in an Npower Championship encounter at Carrow Road on Friday night. The win moved the Canaries up to second spot in the league table.
Paul Lambert made two changes to the Norwich side that drew 2-2 against Watford in their last league encounter. Simeon Jackson and Wes Hoolahan replaced Sam Vokes and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Pacheco-c10045 respectively.
On the other hand, Billy Davies made several changes to his Nottingham Forest side from their recent 2-0 win against Burnley. David McGoldrick and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kris-Boyd-c21391 started upfront in a 4-4-2 formation.
The game got off to the best possible start for the visitors, as they opened the scoring in just the third minute. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Ruddy-c18892 tried to save McGoldrick’s strike but the ball deflected off Nathan Tyson and ended up in the back of the net, to make it 1-0 for
Nottingham Forest.
Three minutes later, the hosts came close to scoring an equaliser. Andrew Crofts’ cross was beautifully controlled by Jackson but he lifted his shot over the bar from close range.
Norwich managed to equalise in the ninth minute of the game, when a swerving free kick from Fox was met by a splendid header from Grant Holt, and the ball flew into the net to make it 1-1.
After a buoyant start, both teams played nice attacking football and created a host of chances to score. Forest enjoyed the majority of the possession, but both teams had their chances to take the lead. However, no side was able to capitalise.
The hosts enjoyed a good spell of play and managed to score in the 34th minute. Holt played a lovely cross-field pass to Andrew Surman and the midfielder chipped the ball beautifully over Lee Camp’s head, to make it 2-1 for Norwich.
Nottingham were dealt a huge blow just before the half time whistle, when striker Kris Boyd picked up an ankle injury and had to be substituted.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Canaries-c38723 came close to doubling their lead at the start of the second half. Surman made a great turn inside the box but could not manage to place his shot on target.
Paul Lambert’s side made a flurry of attacks on the Nottingham defence in the early minutes of the second half. The visitors were totally outplayed in the second half as they could not manage to create a single goal scoring opportunity.
Just before the full time whistle, Paul Konchesky was shown his second yellow card of the evening for bringing down Surman.
Forest slumped to their 11th defeat of the season and their chances of making it to the play-off positions also suffered a huge blow.
