Nose piercing and acne?

My daughter wants her nose pierced. We (the parentals) are very against it because she has severe ance and has had sinus surgeries for infections, etc. We just see as this as another medical disaster waiting to happen... Anybody out have acne or sinus trouble and their nose pierced? How did you do with healing, etc?

I've never had acne, but I don have sinus issues and I got my nose pierced last winter.  The only thing I have noticed is that the side I have it pierced on runs more than it did before.  As for the healing, make sure she cleans it daily with antibacterial soap and uses neosporin on it to aid in the healing.  It will be necessary to do this for about 2 weeks.  It still may be sore after that as well as red but that isn't a sign of infection...it's just the cartilage healing.  After the initial healing process, I recommend using either peroxide or rubbing alcohol every few days to keep it clean.

I used to be a body piercer

it will heal in 6 to 8 weeks

as long as it is cleaned with bactine

2 to three times a day with a q-tip

it should be fine

it won't affect the sinus problems

it might be a little annoying

when blowing the nose

if it is maintained clean there should be no breakouts

and proactiv works miracles on my face

I've had my nose pierced for years now, I have horrible sinus, I have acne, the acne never grows - at least for me - around the piercing. Sinus' never affected it. I know some people think nose rings are trashy but if it bothers you much you both can purchase a clear stud that she can wear around you and or family. And if worse comes to worse she can always take it out, it usually doesn't leave a scar and if it does it just looks like a large pore.

Oh and when they pierce the nose, they usually use an L shaped one, it hooks in and goes against the nose so it wouldn't get in the way of her air passages, but if you allow her to get this done I advise strongly against to the the nose ring that has a ball at the end, those hurt and cause infections and infections are disgusting and hard to get rid of on the face. Look at it this way, when someone has their tongue pierced, only way to get the tongue ring out is to unscrew the ball, you wouldn't dare try to pull the ball through the hole, correct? Don't allow the nose rings with the ball, it's the same way.
