Question:

Nose ring help please!!?

My new nose ring just fell into my nose, it was pierced with a larger gauge than a regular wire "L" bend nose ring, now I had to put in a what i believe to be gold "L" bend ring, but I am afraid it will get infected. I'm rather new to this and quite nervous, does anyone have any suggestions? I am not sure what to do now that it fell.. is it abnormal to have a piercing that was large hold such a small wire? Will it fall out?

Thanks!!

  1. take it from me, putting in an original nose ring is an art.  Leave the L bend one in until the morning and then go back to where you got pierced and have them put it back in for you in the morning.  It's best to maintain a larger gauge initially.  And all that keeping the smaller L bend in will do is make the hole a smaller gauge.  eventually when it's healed you will be able to switch between rings no problem, but don't mess with them until you are fully healed because you can cause an infection

  2. Usually its best to wait till the piercing heals with the original jewelry in, it takes apprx 3-6 mons for a nose piercing to fully heal. After its healed you can place in a nose stud in  of your choice, just make sure the quality of the metal is a good quality so it won't cause an infection, real gold, surgical steel and titanium are all good quality metals. If a nose stud seems real small when you place it in, make sure its either an L or nose s***w so it won't fall out, nose bones usually fall out easily. If you were pierced with an 18G hollow needle you will be able to fit in either 18G nose studs or 20G nose studs (which are slight skinnier). Good Luck

EDIT:  It is up to you, depending how long you've had it for and if its completely healed you can were the small "L" stud since it will not easily fall out, but if you piercing is still so newly pierced, just stick with the original jewelry until its completely healed.
