Not Always Allowed to Call?

Question

My boyfriend just arrived at boot camp this evening (he joined the Navy). He's been saying for months, now, that he gets one call when he arrives, and that he'll use it to call me. I was on the phone with him when he arrived at the place where all the officers were grouping the recruits, and that was four hours ago. I was wondering if maybe they saw him on his phone, and figured he shouldn't be allowed to call? Because I'm 99% sure he's already there...

4 hours?  don't panic.  it was well over TWELVE hours before mine called me.  That phone call does NOT come right away.

If he gets a call it will be tomorrow, not tonight.

Really disliking how this site doesn't let you specify what country you are from....

Anyway.

When my hubby went off to rookies, I got to speak to him at least once a week. Not sure how they do it over in the US. But I wouldn't be expecting a call as soon as he got there, not a chance, too much other stuff to do!

Calls depend on whether or not they are doing bush training, or have had their phones confiscated for punishment, and how much other stuff they have to do!

It's not like camping being out there, its bloody hard work for them, and at the end of the day, most of the time they just want to sleep.

Ease up on him and stop worrying, he will call when he can.

The military has to give you one phone call to let your family know that you made it ok. When I was in basic for the Army we were told that we had to call within 72 hours of arriving so maybe that is true for the Navy too.

Well, his cell is now gone, and his 1 very fast phone call will be to his home of record... I'm guessing that would be Mom/Dad... he will call when he gets a chance, which is likely right before Graduation. Just hang in there, write letters. Remember, he is there to train, learn, and follow the prescribed schedule that the USN has used for quite some time... and it doesn't include calls to girlfriends every night, or at all... the most important thing for him to do is Train.

He will call when they allow it.he would be allowed 1 call, to his parents.
