*I think I would of paid good money to see you cuttin on that pony!

  3. All of my fondest horse memories are with my mare who just passed away. My most cherished memory was going to the barn every night after she had her baby. I was the only one who she would let near her baby. Everyone else she chased out of the barn!

One night I was in the barn talking to my mare and telling her what was going on in my life ( I always talk to my horses like they know what I'm talking about.) Anyway I was with my mare and then I decided to lay down by her baby who was laying by her feet. I put my head on his back and just layed there. A few minutes later my mare came to where I was laying and laid down right next to me, using my stomach as a pillow. It was the most amazing feeling I had ever felt in my life. Being fully trusted by a horse and having a strong relationship with a horse. I trusted her and she trusted me. I still tear up thinking of that night. I loved my mare SO much, and I will never forget the fond memories of her.

  4. I think my fondest memory was packing a small back pack and telling my mum and pop I was running away to be in the rodeo. I hopped on the back of Blossom(12 year old spare parts pony) thinking I was going to make it big time! Needless to say I didn't make it past the front gate- mostly because I couldn't get it unhinged but also because Blossom dumped me on the gravel drive and took off bucking and starting a ruckus! Turns out I had strapped the small back pack on her and the bag had slid up under her belly.

  5. I loved to freak my Mom out.  I had an Appaloosa mare that I would take everywhere in my little world as a kid.  I brought her up on the front porch and opened the door, Mom yelled.  I taught her to jump in the back of the pickup box without racks, Mom came out of the house and yelled.  I think the best one was when i took the mare up the steps in the old barn hayloft.  Then I opened up the upstairs door.  Mom was walking across the yard and I said "Hi Mom" and my mare was standing right next to me up in the barn.  She yells "hold it right there, young lady!"  Oops, she is really mad at me now...she comes out of the house with the camera and takes a picture.  I guess she didn't think Dad would believe that I did that so she wanted proof!  It's one of his favorite pictures of me.

  6. My grandma used to move practically every couple years or so, and a couple times she lived on a farm. So she bought a little chestnut pony named Ginger, and so my fondest horse memory is, whenever I went to her house, I would go to Ginger and always feed her and pet her. I loved Ginger, she was so cute, and so sweet ♥

    What's your fondest horse memory?

  7. Now Kevin...we would love to see some pictures :D I bet that was cute.

What part of NV? I use to live in Imlay and Unionville :D And spent many years being a pest at a particular ranch in that area :D

Oh and my fondest childhood memory with horses is when I was 13...this sounds weird...but...when I got bucked off this mare at the said particular ranch and got 67 stiches in my leg from flying over a t-post and my leg dragged on it...well it was Oct. 28th... a long a55 time ago and my mom was dressed up as a witch at work and she had the molded glue applied witch nose and chin and her face painted green...she had to go to the emergency room like that...lol...I thought the doc's eyes were going to bug out when she walked in...man I just laughed...it was a severe enough owwie that I couldn't feel it yet...lol! It's also one of my fondest memories because she threatened to never let me ride again but a week later, with stitches still in...I went riding again :D My mom would never stop me from doing something I love...I love her so much for that. That accident made me realize that I would never stop being horse crazy...I mean...I almost lost my leg in that accident...Man I love horses.

  8. HA!!!! I love this intro, Again Im thinking, kevin! what are you asking  a howrse question for..........psych......My fondest memory is when we lived in Utah, I was very young 3 or 4 yrs old and we were at a horse renting place so my sister could go riding. My mom and i were waiting for my sister to finish and were out where the horses were tied to the rail waiting to be ridden on a trail ride. My mother told me to stay right there while she went to go get my sister and said "now sit on this bench and dont move, and stay away from those horses" All I remember is wanting so badly to be sitting on top of one of those horses, so I walked over climbed up the stirrup and grabbed the leathers hanging down and managed to monkey climb my way up lickety split. My mother came back to find me up top a horse. Now mind you this was a horse tied to a dude line....not the safest position to be in , lol All my mom could say was "how in the h**l did you get up there??"

  9. childhood memory huh?  Geez...I'll have to shake off the cobwebs!!

It's going to be getting to ride with the cowboys when they went to herd cattle.  I wasn't allowed to ride my own horse because...let's face it...a REAL working ranch horse will dump a 6 year old in a heartbeat.

I remember going for miles and hours on the back of either my stepdad's horse...or my grandfather's.  Couldn't see much...but I was there!

My stepdad use to joke about how I would stretch his belt 3 inches.  That's what I held onto.

Ah...but I got to put on my 'big girl pants' when they would get off to do something...and I would climb into the saddle and sit there all by myself!  Totally lost in the fantasy that I was a real cowboy on my own horse.

I was quite upset for years about being born a girl...I wanted to be a cowboy!

**EDIT...OH COOL!  I have my own troll!!  Ha ha...and none of the rest of you have one!!!  I'm SPECIAL!!

I mean enough to someone to get them to thumb me down!!!  hee hee hee!!!

**EDIT...ah Kevin...my meds seem to have kicked in!!  *course...could be the '12 year old barrel stuff' has something to do with it!!

  10. I'm hoping to have one yet... seems now days i can only listen to stories of people doing fun things on horseback- because i can't afford a horse and nobody wants to let me ride theirs to do fun things...

    oh well, maybe some day.

  11. I'm still a child (ok 13, but child like)

  12. My Best, Funniest memory is when i was about... 8 - i didnt have a horse then -    i was at a clinic adn i was riding a paint, almost white, quarter horse named Abe. Well, apparently my saddle wasnt tight enough and when i was riding, my sadle slipped and was on the side of the horse and i was still hanging on. Then abe looked back at me and his face said "What Are You Doing?!?!  Youre doing it worng!!!"

Then finally i just let go and fell after like 7 seconds of riding like that.

    Well thats it=]

    See ya Later=]

  13. As a young girl, we had a white billy goat named Billy (I know, real original).

Billy lived chained to a dog house located between the house and the barn. Billy used to charge anyone who came into his territory. He knew exactly how much chain he had to work with and planned accordingly.

My favorite mare Blondy, had a goat vendetta.

She would get out of the barn specifically to have 'Billy time'.

I remember seeing her loose in the barn yard, standing on Billy's chain.

She would plant her front feet on that chain about 6 feet away from his collar and standing there watching him throw a fit cause she knew he couldn't get to her with those pointy horns of his.

She did this every chance she got and really seemed to enjoy herself. Billy on the other hand had murder in his eyes.

I don't think he ever did connect with her, but would then vent his frustrations on an unsuspecting farm dog .

Blondy was my horse nanny growing up and this is my favorite memory of her.

  14. I am 16 years old and got my first horse...

  15. awww how cute!

mine was when my grandparents got a cute little palomino dapple Shetland mare her name was ginger and she loved chasing me through the Field... hah i did not know ANYTHING about equines and in my mind she and i were playing tag =)

but really she became to aggressive to handle and then they sold her...=(

  16. Sure this isn't a Howrse question?

Hmmm... My aunt leading me around on her QH when I was like 3. That was the start of my "amazing" riding career.  Those were the good old days. haha. Well... that or the time my horse decided that she didn't want me anymore and dropped me in the driveway.

Edit: You have no idea how much I want to see that little pony in all of the calves. God, that's the time you want the camera.

Long ago, in a land far away. There was a young prince named Kevin, and his little chocolate palomino shetland pony that did something completely unique. This pair was a cutting duo.

I think it would make a good story. You should find that picture.
