Not a fracture but St. Louis Blues David Backes will be out for some time -NHL Update
Finishing off a wonderful 2011-2012 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season and heading into the playoffs being atop of the league with 100 points, St. Louis is definitely have the time of their lives but recently losing David Backes to a foot related
injury is certainly not what they wanted.
Backes, luckily does not have a foot fracture like thought before when he left the game following a blocked puck during round-two of the Saturday night matchup against Tampa Bay Lightning, which Blues won 3-1.
Instead, he is travelling with the team but will not be playing in the upcoming games as the team will be taking his status as day-to-day and revaluate him in the upcoming week.
"It's day-to-day, week-to-week," Blues coach, Ken Hitchcock, said. "It's all based on pain tolerance. These things hopefully heal real quick. It's not a big deal, but it isn't like it's a long-term injury."
There were no bones broken according to the latest report on Backes condition and only pain when he uses his left foot, much better than having a fracture any day.
Andy McDonald is also out at the moment for the team after sustaining a serious shoulder injury against Carolina Hurricanes earlier on Thursday. He is expected to return before the season comes to an end but not against Anaheim Ducks, a team they face in
their next game.
"It felt pretty good today," McDonald said. "I was able to do a lot of things. I guess it feels better than I thought it would at this point. I was happy to be able to skate and get out and do a lot of the drills."
Sitting at number one in the Western Conference, with a league high of 100 points and being the first team to clinch a playoff position, St. Louis Blues are definitely heading into a revolutionary postseason for the franchise.
Having all players back in the line-up healthy is top priority for them at the moment since it is well known that the competition reaches a whole new level once the regular season is done and over with.
