My child has "not a tooth" growing where there would be a wisdom tooth but there is something else that looks like a tooth on X-ray. Dentist is not worried, child may need oral surgery, we have to return in 6 months. What might this "tooth pathology" be and should I worry?

  1. Yes, I would get a second opinion

  2. We had a similar situation in another area of our child's mouth.

We went to our favorite oral surgeon for a second opinion.  Turned out to be a tooth, which descended normally and erupted just fine.

Have another dentist or an oral surgeon look at the films.

    All the best.
