I'm 20 years old and will be a first time freshmen starting college in the fallI'm trying to get all my student Financial Aid paperwork done in time. Because my situation is seems very uncommon , I'm wondering if anyone would have any knowledge of what they might ask for?

The Situation: I live/and have lived with my boyfriend for over a year now, and have not worked due to have a complacated pregnancy in 2007. He supports me and my daughter, who he clams on his Student aid report, so I can not claim her as a Dependent, there for I am dependent. So they want my Parents inforamtion. It States on the fafsa Website that you should use the Parent's information who supported you more than half the year that the Fafsa was completed. That would be my mother, since she supported me before my boyfriend. My mother lives w/ her b/f who is disabled, but doesnt recieve any government support for it. She does not work ither. There income is $0.00. They recieve Gift money from His Mother For bills.

  1. Contact your financial aid office, they will have a form or a procedure for your situation.  On worksheet B of the FAFSA, you need to report gift money given to you and your mom.

Your school will work with you.  Each school has their own procedure it is better to talk with them and find out exactly what they want.

  2. These situations are actually more common than you think.  Check with your financial aid office about what documentation to present to them.  They may only need a letter from your mother explaining how much income she lives on per year and where it comes from.  Every office is going to handle your situation a little differently so unless you talk to them about what to provide you will only be guessing.

Sounds like she does not work and does not file taxes.  They will still need to know how she survives and where the money comes from.  They are usually reasonable about these sorts fo things.
