Question:

Not eating meat except for kosher chicken?

I have recently stopped eating meat (but I am still eating fish, temporarily). I have nothing against eating animals but I have everything against the way they are treated and tortured in slaughterhouses, etc. I have been thinking of only eating kosher chicken, since some people say that kosher chickens do not suffer when they are slaughtered. But others say it is the cruelest form of death...does anyone really know whether kosher slaughter is the most humane form?

Note: I do realise that doing this does not make me a vegetarian, so there's no need for any ethical speeches :P

  1. I am veggie, but my one son and husband are not. He buys only Kosher foods. It is better than non kosher, because they have STRICT laws against suffering. I am not judging you at all. It sounds like a good step in the right direction. I started off not eating ground animals and eating only fish once twice a week , then I learned to cut it out. Now I am trying to cut out eggs, dairy. I want to vegan for health and love of living things. The goverment will not change how they treat animals, and they are feeding people sick animals, which is making people sick.

  2. Kosher is where the animal does not feel pain when it is killed

  3. Here is footage from an undercover investigation in a kosher slaughter house.  The only difference I see is the fact that it is the worst footage I have ever seen...even though I have seen a lot of footage.  Kosher never means less painless.  I don't eat meat because I don't trust people who raise and slaughter the animals to do it in a humane way.

  4. If you are concerned about the way animals are treated, chicken is the one you want to avoid first. Mass-produced chicken and eggs are treated the worst of all eating animals.

  5. That's a good question. Unfortunately, "kosher" has nothing to do with humanely killing the animals. It is concerned with the "cleanliness" of the meat and still involves a lot of suffering. The kosher slaughterhouses are exempt from federal regulations, so they're often even worse than conventional ones in many cases. Faux chicken is the best way to go if you're concerned with the way animals are treated and killed.

  6. Well, i think that your real problem is with death. YOu should just get a grip with it. It happens. Do you think it was a humane way of dying when a lot of our solders were slaughtered on the beaches of normandy so you can live free. Do youthink it is humane  when a guy cuts the head off a cow with a chainsaw.  I really think what you should do is just buy and raise your own chickens and then you can decide how you want to kill them for your eating pleasure.   You are sufering right now as well as dying. as we grow old our bodies decay and organs malfunction. vegetarian or not i think it's just some idea that liberals have to protest meat.  God gave us the animales to kill and eat.

I personally love to hunt all kinds of wildlife. I kill them with the intent to eat them.
