Question:

Not entirely new to Houston, but would like to meet new people?

I have been in Houston for about two years now and haven't really met a lot of people (four to be exact). I'm a single gal so traipsing around downtown and night clubs isn't a viable option. I live around the Galleria (like everyone else out here) so there is a lot to do but it just feels like everyone is in their own world out here. Any suggestions?

  1. Find a good church and join their young people or singles group.  Lots and lots of activities in a safe environment.  Good luck!

  2. I have the same problem.  And even when you get in the clubs, you usually meet people that aren't very high quality or they just don't stick around.  Getting to know new people in Houston is all about taking every opportunity to talk to anyone.  I've found that most people are happy when you finally say something to them.  It's just that they're either shy or too busy to talk.

Another suggestion... You can talk to me.

  3. Cooking Pancakes has a good suggestion but I might add sports clubs, health clubs, classes (pick one that interests you, Leisure Learning has sooo many), volunteer for a favorite charity, or a book club.

  4. Go to a night club with a friend (to be safe).
