Not home theater but cable box?

I just got home theater system back from shop. It does appear the audio signal delay must be happening from cable box as I can switch the home theater from rca connections back to digital with instantaneous sound but while leaving the digital input selected and changing channels with the cable box when it appears to switch to digital signal I have no sound at times up to 30 seconds or longer. If switching from 2.1 to 2.1 no delay but to digital or 5.1 definitely delays the audio completely for at least that long sometimes it may be shorter. So how does one approach the cable company with this issue.

Tell them you are switching to DirecTV. Then do yourself a favor and switch.
