Oldest is turning 5 and youngerst is turning 1 (birthdays are 6 days apart). No family lives near (on other coast), nor can attend. All friends coming are friends from older son's school. Don't want them to feel obligated to bring two gifts. Is it ok to just send out invites for 5 year olds party, but then at the party have a small cupcake for the baby and celebrate his birthday too.

  1. that sounds great! it's nice that you are taking others into consideration- most people go a little overboard on 1st birthdays anyway (my personal opinion!).

  2. yes.

some people will be like "aww you should of told us, poor baby has no gifts to open" and some wont care.

hope he has mommys gifts to open!!!

  3. It's very considerate of you to worry about your guests feeling obligated to bring two presents. But your friends likely want to celebrate both children. They might even figure out some gift that both kids would enjoy - a nice picture book or bubble blowing stuff can be entertaining to both ages. I would go ahead and put both the boys' names on the invitations, if it isn't too late.

If your older child is ok with sharing their party, go ahead and throw a joint party to celebrate both of their birthdays. (Next year though, budget ahead of time and save up and have a separate small party for each child. The two year old won't care, but the 6 year old might by that point).

  4. How does your older son feel about having to share his b-day party? Why not have a totally separate thing for the 1 year old? Something small for a small baby.

Have a cupcake there too- it's cute. Everything looks cute with one candle in it.

  5. I think you should not include your one year olds birthday with your five year olds. Just on the day of the baby's birthday have something for you and your son & husband. Make the baby his own little cake he can play in and a cake for ya'll to eat. You can take pictures and keep them. That way they both have they're own special day.

  6. awe, I think it's perfectley ok to combine them esp if baby is only 1. No one will mind at all. It's very cute.

  7. huh?
