Not seeing replies on Blackberry Pearl Messenger?

My husband and I have Blackberry Pearl phones and would chat through messenger. Recently I have had a problem of not being able to see his replies unless i close the conversation and then go back into Messenger. Then I see what he wrote but what I wrote is gone. What would cause that?

I'm not sure what would cause the problem but in my company when we have issues with BlackBerries we would first do a battery removal reset.  That is remove the battery for a couple of seconds and then re-insert it.

This is equivalent to a cold boot of a computer which a BlackBerry basically is, a small handheld computer.

The reboot will have the BlackBerry do a self check and reload all the applications.

This may or may not solve your problem.  But I would try it first.

If you contact your service provider or RIM they will have you do this procedure as the first step in trouble shooting.

Couple possibilities.  If your memory is low your device may not be able to store recent items (you might notice messages and call logs disappearing.)  You can confirm it is out of space by checking "Status" in "Options".  If your File Free shows 0 bytes, erase some pictures then pop out your battery, a reboot will free up space.

If you have free space but it's still doing it to you, try popping out your battery anyway, it usually fixes little things on BlackBerries, and you won't lose any data by doing it.

Alternately, if it persists, call up your provider and ask if they can Resend your profile to the switch, that resolves most other network issues.
