  1. back in 1971 my uncle worked as a valet at los alamitos

race course. his jockeys were, terry lipham, donald knight, and

steve treasure. lipham rode 1st call for d.wayne lukas,

before he went to the big time. so i just turned 45 on friday the 6th of june, and have been a california horse racing

board approved handicapper for 10 years, but have followed

horse racing for 37 years, and courgar 2nd is my all-time

favorite horse....i do love the game!!!!!

  2. My grandfather bred Thoroughbred racehorses for a living and he started 20 years before I was born.  My brother breeds Standardbreds for harness racing.  I learned everything I know about horse racing from them.

My grandfather taught me how to handicap a race as soon as I learned how to read.  He had an uncanny ability for picking Triple Crown winners.  He picked all three in the 1970s and he could always pick the pretenders too.  He's the only person I know who said Spectacular Bid would not win the Triple Crown.

I've been going to horse races for almost 40 years.  I've been an avid fan of the Classics since I saw Riva Ridge race in 1972.

My husband and I own a farm from which we've operated a small business since 1995.  We specialize in producing organic animal feeds and supplements.  Our top customers include horse breeders and trainers so we have to keep up with the latest developments in those industries.

Since you know now that I'm pretty old I think I should explain:  my teenage daughter uses my Yahoo profile sometimes, she's the one who picked the goofy avatar.

  3. How, with SO MUCH horse "experience" can you call horse racing inspirational?  They are raced at 2-3 years old. You of all people should know a horse is not even physically ready to race until their growth plates are fully closed at what? 4-5 years old, right?  Animal racing, rodeo, bull fighting, all that horrible c**p is just legalized animal ABUSE, it makes me sick to know that horse lovers like you actually condone a sport where the losers are auctioned off to the meat market, the lucky ones are euthanized when "owners" decide they are not worth the cost of keeping  alive.  It is disgusting when these sports are all about the money, and dumbass people think its fun to watch animal torture.

  4. I've ridden since I was 10 and have worked with horses since leaving school at 16.

I spent 2 years at college doing a diploma in horse management and trained as a riding instructor.

Worked as a riding instructor for about 6 months before getting bitten by the racing bug.

Spent 2 years working on high profile stud farms handling some of the best mares around.

Worked for the last 6 and a half years in a racing/breeding office dealing with stallion registrations, pedigree research, racing sponsorship, and relationships between European and American breeders.

  5. It's in my blood. Although I haven't rode many horses or owned any it's there. I remember going to the races when I was little with my Grandfather and Dad. They knew a few trainers and a couple of jockeys. When one of the trainers that they were really good friends with got sick my grandpa took care of his horses.

I grew up listening to stories and living them. When my boyfriend moved away to college, I went to visit him to see the college because it's also where I want to go. I happen to be driving down the main street and noticed OTB. I was so excited. I would be 2 hours away from home for real, but be able to walk into a place that feels like home.

It's a powerful sport to be a part of. It all started when I was little and it will stick with me the rest of my life.

  6. 14 years as a horse player, reading the form daily, talking to jocks trainers and owners

  7. :c I have no experience what-so-ever. I'm but a 17-year-old who has only ridden horses at fairs. As an artist, however, I find the subject of horse racing (and horses in general) exciting and inspiring. I love to draw horses and I love to be knowledgeable on the subjects that interest me.

  8. gee.... how old are you?

im just an avid race fan, since i was little,

i eat, breath and sh*it racing, but never riden a horse
