Not-so-quick-Nick?

Heidfeld failed to make Q3 today, and ITV didn't sound surprised at all. He isn't having as good a year as last year, and I don't think Dr Mario will be too pleased by this. Could he be on his way out if he doesn't improve? Apparently somebody on here mentioned he's already been given the wake up call.

  1. Yeah, his qualifying hasn't been up to his usual high standard. Saying that he is still doing the job on race day but hes got some work to do if he wants good points tomorrow. One of the drivers hoping for rain, I feel.

  2. Dunno what's up with Nick but it could be that he isn't able to find  the right set up. He hasn't been doing too well this few races. he really has to start stepping up his game soon. He is a very experienced driver and should not be rattled by Kubica's pace. hopefully he will soon bounce back and challenge the frontrunners

  3. Your right and Nick's got his work cut out for him if he want's to keep his ride.

  4. If he were a rookie.. he might have some arguments. But the way I see it, he is in a pretty awful situation. He has a top car on his hands and fails to make it thru Q2. On the other hand, guys like Nico and Alonso have a lesser car and place it in Q3...

Things are not looking good for Nick.   I definitely think the car doesn't suit him. But this is Sauber's best car to date.. so if it doesn't suit one of their drivers, I don't think the team will be eager to go back for him. Especially when the other driver is delivering with convincing form...

  5. I heard that there were rumors he was running on a slightly different set up from Kubica for this race, one that will favor the rain.  I don't know if thats true, i doubt it since he's been outqualified by his teammate in all the races this year.

    EDIT:

I just saw the pre race show and they mentioned that Coulthards accident which put out yellow flags may have had something to do with a couple of drivers not making it into Q3, so that may be it.

  6. Kubica's raw speed has rattled his confidence

  7. He's never been a quick qualifier but his race pace is always good... he's only compromising himself by not upping the ante to Kubica in quali.... I think he might have to go anyway... as he's never looked like a race winner... but he'd be a fine wingman to Kubica should he be a championship contender either this year or next...
