Not strange for home team to ask for favourable tracks, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GP-Swann-c1501 – Cricket News Update
After facing severe criticism over his call for “turning tracks” in the ongoing Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028, was backed by English spin wizard Graeme Swann, who finds nothing “strange” about the opposition skipper’s demands.
“It is not strange for a home team to ask for a wicket to suit their team. We do that when we play in England because we want it to suit our bowlers. The fact that we have won the last two Tests is a testimony about how well we have played and not a lot to do about the pitch,” said Swann.
Taking 17 wickets in the 3 Tests against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 so far, Swann hailed the track at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, where England defeated the home team by 7 wickets, to lead the four match series 2-1.
Terming the track as “exceptional”, Swann added, “It was a very good Test wicket and did very little for the spinners or the pacers on the first two days, gradually broke as the game went on and was turning quite nicely by the end.”
However, when asked to comment on the pitch at VCA Stadium, Nagpur, for the final encounter, Swann said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Thomas-George-Burrows-c93472hat he hadn’t taken a look at it, and it was for the management and coach to assess the track. He did however say that his side was ready to play on any track, come Thursday.
“Whatever the pitch is, we have to try and win the game.”
The English spinner expects the opposition to come hard at them in the final game, being their only option to save the series.
Revealing the reasons for England’s success on the tour so far, Swann believed, that it was the way the English side embraced the Indian conditions this time around. According to him, the side had more self belief on this tour, compared to the previous ones.
With Swann and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Monty-Panesar-c2024 expected to play important roles in the final encounter, it remains to be seen whether the Poms can return home for the Christmas break with a 3-1 series win as a gift for their country.
