Not sure I will play, even if fit: Gilchrist – Cricket News Update
Kings XI http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Gilchrist-c918 is hesitant about confirming his place in the squad for the remaining matches of the ongoing Indian Premier League 5, saying he is reluctant to interfere with the current winning combination.
“Even if I am available for playing, it is not sure that I will play as the boys are doing a great job right now and the team is really gelling well,” said Gilchrist, who suffered a hamstring injury earlier in the tournament, and has currently been replaced
by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJ-Hussey-c1380.
“Injury has been progressing well, but not well enough,” he said when asked about his hamstring complaint.
The skipper’s injury did not allow him to play any matches after Kings XI’s clash with the Kolkata Knight Riders on April 18, but the team appears to have found their rhythm, having won four of their last five matches, while under Gilchrist they won 4 of
the 8 matches they played.
The Kings XI started out on a positive note, winning both of their first two matches, against the Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore, but the burst of sudden luck in the beginning was followed by 3 consecutive losses.
However, their current form is promising, and despite being 7th on the tournament points table at the moment, the Kings XI’s most recent victory against the Deccan Chargers (a narrow last-ball, 4-wicket victory on May 13) has made sure that they
are in contention for a spot in the playoffs, if they are able to put up a good show in their remaining three games - two against the Delhi Daredevils, and one against the Chennai Super Kings.
Stand-in skipper Hussey has expressed confidence in the team’s ability to keep the momentum going in the remaining matches, starting from their first of two clashes with table-toppers, Delhi, at the Feroz Shah Kotla.
“We had a good match yesterday (Sunday). We are playing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 tomorrow (Tuesday), it's a big game for us and we need to play equally well to get two points and move ahead. The boys are confident of putting up a good show,” said Hussey.
