i brought a car recently and its in my name etc.

im currently insured under my moms insurance, cant she just add my car to her insurance even if its in my name??

  1. no, you are committing insurnce fraud.  you are insured to drive your mother's car only.

    your new car is uninsured.


  2. cars are insured, not drivers.  So each car must be insured on it's own.  It may be insured by your Mother but there won't be any savings in premiums.  You will pay the same premium to insure it on your own.

  3. Yes, you can. The insurance will be under her name and the car will have it's own line, and you'll be listed as the main driver. My car and 2 trucks are listed under my dad's insurance policy, with me listed as the main driver, with my name on the titles.

    Other answerer doesn't know what he's talking about. There's still insurance on all of the vehicles, and they all have their own policies. Your mom may not want to do it, though, because if you get in a wreck, it'll hurt her record with the insurance company, possibly raising her rates as well as yours.
