We have two desktop computers, one upstairs and one downstairs. The one upstairs is hooked up to the internet with a cable modem. However the one downstairs isn't close to a cable hookup. Can we use a wireless router to get internet on the downstairs computer? Thanks for any help you can give

  1. As you've got a cable modem, best solution is either

    (a) a Wireless Access Point (assuming the Pc downstairs has wirless - if not you'll need a wireless USB dongle) or

    (b) Ethernet-over-power adaptors

  2. Yes, it is possible. But it would cost some money as you know the wireless modem and the adapter, and the instructions come with the router when you buy them.

    hope my answer helped.

  3. Along with the wireless router, you will also need to get a wireless adapter so that you can connect to this wireless router.
