  1. i personally don't know of any.    check with your local COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF AGING AND SEE if they can give you any advice.   most all counties have a DEPARTMENT OF AGING. even try contacting AARP to see if they might be able to guide you.

i personally have used both agencies in the past so i'm not just making them up.

    senior citizen myself.

    good luck to ya.

  2. Your township should know of some number to give you to find help.  The department of families should have some information for you too.  Most churches will have some information too.  Good luck in your search.

  3. yes, one is called habitat for humanity, you can locate them and put in an application for assistance.  Help is given on the bases of need.  The work is done by local volunteers / craftsman.  Also check with the churches in your area and maybe the one that this older person goes to.

  4. In addition to the other good answers provided here, also check with your local Community Action Agency.  CAA's help distribute over 90% of all Community Service Block Grants distributed by the US Government, and quite often, you can get help for low income homes with weatherization, furnaces, etc.  The folks at the CAA will also know who else in your community is helping out in this type of situation.

    Good Luck

  5. I don't know where you live, however here, my church is always looking for ways to help out folks and for volunteer projects.  I would sugest you speak with one or more of the ministers in your area, and I bet you will get several people who would volunteer their services through the church.

  6. Try contacting your local Chamber of Commerce, or Habitat for Humanity. Another source may be churches in the community. Call Goodwill, Red Cross, or United Way, too. See if there is a Lyons Club or JayCees group in your area. Sometimes a local newspaper will have that kind of information, too, if you write a letter to a columnist about your problems. Good luck.

  7. In Wisconsin we have an organization called Project Home.  In addition to the work they do all year for lower income people, they do a blitz on the first Saturday in May every year.  They select 7-8 homes, and line up an army of volunteers to do all of the repairs they can.  Materials are often donated, and if they do need to purchase supplies the local lumber yards offer substantial discounts.  My Local Union adopts a house every year, as well as sending several of our volunteers to lead crews at other houses.  Hope this helps.
