Question:

Not sure what to do for 9th Grade?

by  |  earlier

I am currently going into 9th grade for fall 2008.

In the past i have been homeschooled all my life but as the youngest child we are not sure what to do for ninth grade.

All my other siblings had graduated a year early and gone to college early but this year my mom was thinking of going back to college.

I have NEVER underline the never :D, been to public or private school. I have done various co-ops and i am not at a total lack of social skills. What are your suggestions?

If you are going to leave rude comments please leave them elsewhere.

I live in Fort Worth, TX so if you know of any amazing schools please free feel to tell.

And also another concern is money, we cannot afford a unbelievably expensive school.

Thanks.

  1. wait your going to a private school?

    doesnt matter.

    anyways

if its 9th grade, go for it

im sure the other kids are going to be nervous also! i mean, cmon! they are going to be freshman so its kind of like everybody is new (except for the people who will find their friends from middle school but that happens within 2-3 days)

the only thing you have to worry about is seeing many people you never knew before, which almost every person in your grade is also worrying about!

  2. *Study for and take the GED test. Pass it and enter college!

*Here is the story of one intelligent, self-directed young woman who, with the encouragement of her parents, left the path most traveled and struck out on her own.I strongly suggest you read it right away.

*Also -- what about completing your high school diploma and your AA degree concurrently??  Ask your parents or librarian or college counselor for more info (I am in California, so the programs would be different, but they DO exist.)

  3. Public schools are not very good, unless they are in a upper-middle class area. If your public school is in one of these towns, then don’t worry about the curriculum and if not, then try and find your way into one somehow or go to the private school route is no other option is available.

Social behavior comes with exposure to the elements. That being said, just try and feel out the situation, remain calm, and don’t panic. Yes you can breath.

Socialization is a natural process, and its mainly just common sense.

Edit: speaking Spanish is not an advantage when you have to put up with illegals who snuck in and refuse to speak English. 2. As long as the NEA is in charge, you have to take the core courses, and there is not an option.

  4. one of the advantages of attending public school in texas is that you will be fluent in spanish when you graduate.

  5. If I were your mom I would wait until YOU were done with school before heading back to college.  That is unless she can study at home with online classes.

You should spend this year and the following 3 getting ready for college for yourself.

What level are in math?  Do you write well?  And how many hours do you spend reading?

These are the things that you need the most.  Get your skills polished and strengthened.  Begin taking practice SAT's and prepare yourself for the college SAT by doing at least 10 practice tests.  Brush up on your vocabulary and write convincing essays --- the more you write the better your chances of doing a really good job on the SAT essay.

  6. I'm Going to be in the same situation as you!  You can take select classes... Usually

  7. check out this link -- it may help you.

  8. Why not continue with your own studies? You can sit in the college library and study, write down any questions you have and check the net or any of the trillion books you're surrounded with. If that doesn't help, note your problems down and ask Mum after class. If you finish your work and have no desire to peruse a book, you can help shelve books or something. Maybe they'll give you a job down the track :)

  9. Going to school can be really frightening as it's something you haven't done before and not used to it.  Just get English, Science, Socials, Math, and some electives that you want.

  10. go to public, and just be willing to talk to people. just learn the routine of school, it won't take long, and you will probabluy find it refreshing, i think so at least.  good luck and i really don't think you will regret it. just go to public school, its bad but good enough if you take PreAP classes
