Question:

Not to be gross...but?

Riding and doing horse work in this hot and humid weather always results in the uncomfortable condition of "monkey butt"

How do you counteract this?

Cornstarch is my weapon of choice...but what about you?

  1. monkey butt????

I saw the "don't meant to be gross, but..." part and i totally had to check this one out.

  2. OMG - I saw this earlier but I have to actually leave the house sometimes.

Dubie  - I was just about to eat - cheers for that ( so much for "healthy" cottage cheese !)

Actually, antiseptic wound powder works quite well ( anything in a pinch - or should that be crack ???)

Sudocrem ( as Midnight said) applied after a nice hot shower. But really you can't beat that antiseptic powder - just don't use the black one !

  3. Lmao... I live in Florida, so you better believe I deal with 'monkey butt'!! Here we have a different term for it, but it's not quite as... erm... 'cute'. LOL!!

I just started riding in looser fitting jeans, and haven't had a huge problem with it since. Cornstarch... Hmm, something to consider.

Haha This was a funny question!!!

    **Edit**

Lmao American, We here call it swamp @$$!! LOL!!

  4. stay away from thick synthetic fabrics and tight fabrics.  Cotton is good, it "breathes" a little.  Anything that is moisture-wicking is going to help. and then there are the powders and creams I suppose you could use.  I've never had this prob.  Its not hot or humid where I live.  Best of Luck!

  5. Have you tried that Anti-Monkey Butt powder?  I heard it really works. They have it at Tractor Supply.

  6. What is "monkey butt"???

  7. LMAO!!!

Girl...no wonder you send the boys a runnin....too funny!

Edit - Yes of course. It just struck me funny.

  8. Monkey butt????  I think it should be called baboon butt...much more descriptive.  Wear 100% cotton powdered with medicated talc if you need it...I think the material you wear is important.  If your doc will prescribe it, mycolog ointment is good for "emergency" bouts...nice to have on hand...same thing used for serious diaper rash.

  9. Actually, the lamisil spray (for athletes feet) sprayed any where skin touches skin... (butt crack, below beer belly, under b***s, etc...prevents that knock you on your butt putrid cheesey odor that even the cleanest person can get when they actually go out and sweat it up.

Hubby used to get "galled" really, really bad out in the shipyard where he works...and this prevents it.

  10. Lmao!!! Sudocrem is great for sore butts =]

  11. Good old talc normally does the trick. Funny question though lol.

  12. LOL never heard that term but i will use it faithfully now LOL.  I have never had a problem with that but i think your cornstarch idea is good, or baby powder...

  13. I've never had to actually deal with this problem, but I saw a powder called Monkey-Butt at Atwoods the other day.  You could probably get at any Ranch & Home store.

  14. i dont really have that problem but i wear wranglers and boxers.the only problem i have is when i wear my batwings and i am working up a real sweat. i made a set of summer chaps out of heavy cotton sailcloth and they work great.never thought about cornstarch though, great idea ! if i have to do a lot of training i move my scedule to the early morning so i dont have to train in the afternoon heat.

  15. Weapon of choice...Ha Ha!LOL

  16. Rub it with another monkey's...

  17. I have also heard that lamasil spray works, but not so well described as dubie did.  That was funny!!

I also know gold bond powder works.

    **EDIT**

Holy c**p!!!  Sure miss a lot when I'm gone for a while....

BB, Debi you guys are making my eyes water, you are hilarious!!!!

    **EDIT**

    What about....Jungle Rot?

  18. I learn such new and interesting terms on this forum!!

Cornstarch sounds like something I would use.  I would honestly be creeped out 'greasing' my backside.  That would bother me more than the rash!

I wear jeans and haven't had this problem...even when I lived where it was very humid and hot.  But they are not tight [anymore]...so I guess that gives room for air circulation??

**EDIT...CNS, thank you so much for the visuals that will be haunting me the rest of the day...now I am creeped out about my hygiene.  *where's my cornstarch?*

  19. especially when i wore those new jeans not only did i have monkey but but it had the blue ink over the rest of my cheeks, it looked very arty.....don't wear unwashed new blue jeans in hot sweaty weather...

lol BB...i haven't even read your answer yet...but i just know

  20. LOL LOL LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! **falling off chair**

There are some good answers!!! Well here in Vegas we are hot..... I agree Gold Bond the Medicated works great. My poor husband works outside most of the time!! Even in 115 outside..... & Anything goooie stays goooie. Doesn't work!! Great question!!! LOL

    ****edit****

Ohhh we call it "Stink Butt" or A$s

    ****edit****

    Ziggy

    FL yes swamp A$s!!

  21. This is the best question I have seen in the horse section.  A little vaseline and wear cotton and nothing too lacy.

My horse gets monkey butt when she is in season!  Vaseline works on her too!

  22. Bag balm.. Bag balm is the best.  rub some one and its a barrier for moisture.. stops heat rash, diaper rash,  urine scald,  you name it.. even helps pressure sores

  23. what
