Question:

Nothing against NATE CAMPBELL, but. . . .?

Am I the only one that knows the difference between:

1) a cut CAUSED by a punch, and

2) a cut MADE WORSE by a punch, that was originally made by a headbutt?

This one is so frustrating!!! Juan Diaz would never complain, but I think he was cheated against by Campbell Saturday night in losing his unified belts. Campbell (who fought well) was able to take advantage in the later rounds of Diaz's lack of energy due to the massive cut and swelling over his left eye. Campbell headbutted Diaz at least six seperate times, was warned once, but was charged a point when he DIDN'T land a butt. This ref was terrible. . . . .and he almost single-handedly cost Diaz the titles. Again: Diaz lost, that much is certain. But making a cut worse by a punch doesn't mean it was CAUSED by a punch. Kellerman got that wrong time and time again during the broadcast.

DO YOU AGREE WITH ME?

  1. there was a lot of headbutting going on and it looked like Campbell was leading with the top of his head at times but he still Hit Diaz enough not to blame the Headbutting for all damage.... Campbell came out talking trash and getting in Diazs Head and was fighting somewhat dirty or rough inside but the Diaz should of risen to the Challenge but sometimes things just dont go your way and on Saturday it was the case for Diaz.....Wonderful fight From Campbell , who beat my Favorite Boxer by the way , but not sure if he can do it again with the same intensity .....  I was very impressed with Diaz too and he still remains my favorite boxer even though the loss on saturday ....i always say if your undefeated your picking your opponents carefully and not fighting everyone out there...Diaz fought a great fighter and lost but gained alot of respect From Mexican fight fans for his heart and willingness to fight even though he was hurt, but he took his whooping like a Man ...NO EXCUSES either from Diaz other than "the cut bothered me" and to me that says alot of his character..... Bravo Campbell for finally getting your Title and Bravo Diaz for fighting like a true Mexican, con corazon

  2. I agree 100 percent with Kpose...........two different cuts and the one that was caused by the punch did the most damage...........it was ruled a headbutt because the ref was in a bad spot to see it..........and just before the punch Campbell did come in with his head so I can definetely see how the ref saw it as a headbutt but anyone watching the telecast should've seen clearly that the big cut over Diaz's eye was from a punch straight from inside that hit right on the spot where the cut opened up........check it out again, I think you'll agree.

The cut caused by a headbutt was on the top corner of Diaz's eye.

I saw a post earlier that explains this fight perfectly and it was from a pretty big Juan Diaz supporter..........our very own Raraavis.......and the opening line of his answer was something to the effect of "Campbell out Diaz'd him".........or something like that........and it's so true...........I was saying pretty much the same exact thing a few rounds before the fight ended...............Campbell just stayed inside and kept on throwing just like Juan usually does but it didn't work out this time for Diaz.

  3. Unfortunately, I didn't see the fight this past weekend, but if everything happened the way it did, then I'd agree with you. Though from what I read on ESPN's website, it was mentioned that the cut was clearly caused by a punched after looking at the replay. So it could be possible that Kellerman was correct able what happened.... but that's assuming what I read on the site was accurate.

Hopefully, I get to see footage of the fight in the near future somewhere and will be able to give more on the subject, if it should come up again.

    ***ADDITIONAL***

Thanks for sharing that info of two different cuts, kpose. That's something I can look forward to viewing and Guzman may have a point in which I agree with him.

  4. JD's small cut "was" caused by a head butt, but a "punch" caused the cut on his eyelid. The cut & swelling didn't test JD conditioning nor did it deplete it, that was the body attack by NC. The cut did test his heart which he failed, you could see the fight in him leaving the building faster then Elvis did. After the punch to the eye he started to complain that he was head butted but he was already mentally falling apart & thats why he did that.

His corner blew it in many ways,

1st no "adrenalin" was ever used, I don't think they even had any or anything similar to it. I don't know if they were trying to use crazy glue on the cut but they never did anything to stop the bleeding.

2nd they didn't use anything for the swelling, come on you can't use a bag of ice! what a dumb corner!

3rd they had every reason to stop the fight but instead they let JD continue to be broken down mentally as well as physically.

I mean if they had stopped the fight he would have been pissed off and would have probably asked for a rematch but now he may be afraid of Nate. A good corner is always prepared and nows how to keep his fighter ticking. If this isn't the right fight or night for him then at least keep him healthy & do it again later.

4th brings us to his dumb manager who had all this negative publicity in the papers regarding Don King on the week of the fight. A fighter doesn't need to hear any of this c**p before a fight, JD is surrounded by dumb a$$%@, thats the plain truth.

Lets face it JD isn't a great fighter, he is a tough Mexican with a good chin who like's to bang. He got away with it against lessor over the hill opponents but NC said it best "nobody has gone to the body to test it". He is a short little fat guy and it was exposed. Hard body punches to a soft mid section was what exerted his conditioning.

Oh YAH! horrible ref & the worst announcer in the history of boxing.

  5. i saw juan diaz going back lowering his arms and then getting caught with a punch to the eye after that he started bleeding. Was the eye already sore from previous headbutts and the punch that diaz received opened the cut? could be.. but hey, thats boxing. That is why at the beginning of all fights they say protect yourself at all times. fast and sneaky opponents like hopkins and mayweather love to hit fast after a clinch kind of like campbell did to juan diaz to gash his eye.

  6. to me Nate used a dirty style to defeat  Diaz, now  for some reason I think that Diaz just wasnt focused in the fight, I know that the cut had a lot to do to it in the second half of the fight, he was bothered by the cut  in a tremenduos way, now

you have to agree with me on this one, his corner never could control the bleeding in the cut.

I just dont know what was wrong with his trainer, probably wasnt using anything but adrenaline 1:1000, any ways

I know juan personaly and I know  he will be back

find me in Myspace using my email address

    robertredhot@yahoo.com

you will see some pictures of me and him

  7. I think Diaz lost the fight before a punch was even thrown.  At the stare down Campbell asked Diaz if he was ready for h**l, and it seemed to me that the question really affected Diaz.  The cuts were a side story.  Campbell fought more skillfully, and beat him physically and mentally.

  8. Sorry but no, I disagree, there were two cuts on his eye and the one that had the most damage was caused by one of Nate Campbell's hard punches.  As far as Campbell being dirty- he is a sneaky, crafty veteran who pulls out all the tricks in the bag to get the job done, similarly to Bernard Hopkins.  Campbell did exactly what he said he would do in this fight- he took Juan Diaz to h**l and showed that when you back up a pressure fighter like Juan Diaz and go to his body effectively, he can't take it.  I remember after the second round he looked right at Diaz and said "I'm here all night!" and he certainly was.  I actually thought the ref was in favor of Diaz because the point should have never been taken away from Campbell, he didn't headbutt Diaz in that round, but the ref thought he did, so he took a point away.  And Diaz was not fading from the cut, he was fading because Cambell was breaking him down with hard punches to the body and head and that is what won him the fight, not a biased referee or Diaz's cut.  Diaz is a good fighter and fought well at the beginning, but in this case it was HIM being broken down from an accumulation of punches instead of his opponent.

  9. Campbell was about even (though knowing Diez would've gotten stronger as the fight went on) up to the headbutt. Keep in mind the cut was started w/a punch in Rd 1 ( though small) and the headbutt opened up the cut badly

Should the fight have been stopped and have gone to the scorecards yes. But mistakes happen. Look at the cards at the end. Judge A had Diez winning despite being dominated the last 6rds. Still at least they deducted a pt if its any compensation

Stll I place a small amount of blame on Diez's corner. After a cut resulting from a headbutt the corner has 5mins to work on the cut. Diezs cornerman put a tiny amount of stuff on the eye and sent him out like 20sec afterward. An exp cornerman works on the eye and utalizes the 5min made avaliable. Overall it was  still a great fight and hopefully there's a rematch in the near future

  10. NO! nate campbell got in his head and in azs! the punch in the 6th was just that a punch! the judge who scored it for diaz was watching another fight,he was soundly beat the old fashion way.diaz is 24 he has time to rebound but nate does not it was his last harrah and he took advantage of it.. what  you do if you were nate?

  11. No.   I don't agree.   Juan got beat by a stronger tougher man straight up.   Cuts happen.   And Juan is lucky that he hasn't been cut bad before by the way he fights inside.   Don't get me wrong,  I'm not anti Diaz...But He didn't lose because of a cut (really bad cutman by the way).  The referee didn't beat him he got the fight he wanted. In fact I would agree with max that it was a bad point deduction.

Juan lost because he is a one trick pony.  When he couldn't break Nate with his fast hands and got hit back  and started to slow down he had no plan b.   I respect him for giving 100% but it wasn't enough.  He will be back and a champion again.

  12. That's boxing Nate Cambell fought hard and that cut didn't win him the fight. Being able to outbox daiz is what won him the fight. Dude that's boxing people are going to get cut and their are going to be head butts epically with a fight where both guys are fighting  on the inside and you got a come forward fight like that one. If the cut was that bad the fight should have been stopped but it wasn't so their for you cant blame Campbell for it they had a chance to stop it and didn't that's what a Curt man is for anyway. They you talk about getting robbed look at the scores one judge gave the fight to diaz and two others gave it to Campbell that should have been a unimaous decision for Campbell.

  13. there was 2 different cuts

the headbutt in early rounds caused a small cut above his left eyebrow....the cut caused by a punch was below the eyebrow on the left eye

2 different cuts...the cut caused by the punch was the one that caused the major bleeding and swelling
