Question:

Nothing against Tiger but??

I know how this works. I will get several immature answers from Tiger lovers who probably know squat about golf... but let's try to have sa serious conversation here. I got no beef with Tiger but don't you find it odd that they throw Tiger in the "greatest player of all time" category". He hasn't set a course record or a tour record, he hasn't passed Nicklaus in wins or major wins. The game is different now with the advacned equipment than it was thirty years ago. And that was the glory days. With Palmer and trevino and Nicklaus. It's not that I don't think he could have competed, but he has no true number 2. Mickelson blows 85 percent of the time. He isn't a very good "rival" and rarely contests. Back in the day if Nicklaus didn't win one of the other two did, and vice versa. You knew those three were the best. I am just saying until such a day we can see a 26 yr old Nicklaus playing with titanium clubs I don't think we can just throw Tiger into the best ever category. Best right now

  1. Wow, you truly know nothing about golf.  Tiger could retire right now and he would be the greatest ever, and I guarantee Nicklaus wouldn't even argue that.  Tiger has no true #2 rival because he is that much better than everyone else.  The rest of the field pales in comparison.  The fields in today's game are infinitely deeper than when Jack and Arnie played which makes Tiger's dominance that much more impressive.  As far "not setting any records", are you serious?  Does a 15-shot victory at the 2000 U.S. Open ring a bell?  A tournament where Tiger finished -12 and the next closest competitor was +3.  I can see maybe still holding out Jack as "the best ever" since Tiger has actually passed him in majors yet. YET.  But to say he doesn't belong in the "category" as you put it is completely absurd.  If you don't call him the best ever, he is certainly the 2nd best ever right now even if he never played another hole.  Your question is comical, sir.

Edit:  For Christ's sake, he holds a scoring record of some kind for every major, either aggregate score or score in relation to par.

  2. Nicklaus never won a bunch of back-to-back tournaments like Tiger. Nor can he drive like Tiger, and I cannot remember if he's come from ten shots or more back like Tiger has.

If Tiger had to use old-school clubs, he'd still dominate since he can still hit a ton.

I'm not even a devout Tiger fan. I just know he's incredible. If Tiger decided to shatter a course record he can. All he seems to care about is winning, and getting some privacy off the links.

  3. i get wat your saying but Tiger Woods is probably the best to ever play the game because of how he wins. Yes Nicklaus won more but Tiger doesnt just win, he wins big. Nicklaus will win by like 4 or 5 strokes but Tiger wins by like 8 or 9 strokes. Now, he doesnt do it all the time ( 18 hole playoff in the U.S. open) but he does win majors by alot. Tiger won his first major by 12 strokes( 1997 Masters) and he won the 2000 U.S. open by 15 strokes!! Tiger also has a grand slam( winning all 4 majors in a row) SO even though JAck has more wins and majors ( Even though Tiger Woods will evntually break both records) Tiger is the better player

  4. He is the greatest in the last 20 years. With the modern age of high tech clubs and golf balls, player aren't very far apart in skill level. But what makes Tiger good, is his mental concentration is far above any other player around today. You can't compare player now in any sport to those in the past. The greatest of all time is measured in golf by major wins and total wins.  Right now Jack is the greatest in Majors and Sam Snead is the greatest in wins. Tiger is not far behind in either category and if he passes both... on paper he is the greatest, but that's just the way we measure "who's the greatest". There is no true way to measure who is the greatest if people want to say he's the greatest let them, you know better and I know better.

  5. tiger is the best because he has won so much in so little time......he's clutch, and his career is far from over, that's why
