My mom's computer is infected with this phoney virus. We've gone through ALL the answers on Y/A but nothing is working for us :S

PLEASE NOTE BEFORE ANSWERING: Nothing can be downloaded, downloading scanners is a 'no'. Also, it is impossible to take it back to an old restore point, and we no not have any of the files listed on "bleepingcomputer"s website. Is there ANYTHING else we can try??

  1. The best thing to do is Reformat.

Just insert your Windows XP Disc that came with the computer and the computer will do the rest.  Just follow insturctions.

But remember, you will loose everthing, so save your documents and music and pictures, etc.

PS Computer Store or you can take out HD and save all or //////

    loose it.

Some programs for afterwards to put on your computer for

Associated Antivirus XP 2008 Windows Registry Information:

Note, Some of these Registry keys and values may be random:

        HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\rhcnkrj0etfg

        HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Wi...

        HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Wi... "rhcnkrj0etfg"

        HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Wi... "SMrhcnkrj0etfg"

    or reformat your computer

  3. try online scans

    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

  4. Search for manual removal instructions. It may be easier to re-format the hard drive.

  5. Most antivirus programs will have the option of making a "boot disk".  If you have another computer that is assessable to you you could make the disk and boot your computer from that disk and it will run a virus scan before anything boots up from your computer.  Once the disk is made insert it in the drive.  When the computer is very first turned on press F8 then a screen will appear that will ask you which drive you want to boot from.  Select the drive that the "boot disk" is in and follow the directions.  Hopefully this will remove any virus that may be on your computer.  The only thing you will have to worry about is if the virus did some damage to any programs on your computer that can't be fixed with a simple virus scan.  Good luck.  Email me if you have any questions.

  6. THE ONLY Microsoft backed fixed for Antivirus xp 2008 is Combo fix

make sure you turn off system restore first and run this

let it complete or it will change your time to military time ( very easy to correct )
