Nothing happen when i plug the headphone into my laptop?

i have a hp pavilion dv6000 window xp laptop, when i plug the headphone or the speaker in, sound still come out from my laptop. i have played around the volume control thingy and i'm sure it's not muted. It works fine in the past. what's the problem? how can i make it work again?

  1. Go into the audio control settings and make sure the Headphones or Speakers are checked as the default devices.

    If that doesn't work, try plugging them in and restarting to see if the computer then recognizes them and then try again.


  2. r u sure ur plugging it in the output (headphones), not teh imput (micraphone)?


  3. This may be a problem with the headphones themselves-- if the cord is internally broken or they do not properly connect, the computer will not recognize a different line-out audio device is plugged in.
