the tracker may be down on the torrent you're trying to download....or you may just not be connecting to seeds.

try opening another torrent file and see if it works, and also make sure you portforward your router correctly

FIrst off, when you download the torrent from your torrent site, make sure that there are seeders to download from.  The more seeders there are, the better your torrent will download.
