My comp is a windows xp 2003. When trying to load on Sims 2, I found i did not have enough room on my hard drive so i compressed the whole of c drive. I realize now that this is a mistake as now no programmes will load (it says something like the root or path cannot be found). I also tried system restore which also won't load. PLEASE HELP!!!! Is there any way out of this?

  1. Right click on the drive you compressed and select Properties.  ON the General tab, remove the check for compress volume to save space.

Hopefully there will be enough space left to decompress.  Clean up your files such as downloads and temporary internet files.  Click on the Tools menu in IE7 and select Delete Browsing History. In the next window, click on Delete Files for Temporary Internet Files.

  2. hi kit kat, let's clear some room on your harddrive by catching up on your systems maintance. let's start with rebooting your system when you see your windows logo start tapping f8 which will bring you to a safe mode screen scrol down to last goos configuration when system worked correctly. when you get to your desktop hit start>programs>accessories>system tools scrol down to system restore hit the first lit number on the left and hit ok you system will restore to that date then reboot. when you get back to your desktop go back to system tools scrol down to disk clean check every box except thumbnail your computer will ask do you want to delete these files say yes. when that is done go back and defragment this will take awhile but it is good for your system. when that is completely finished and you are at your desktop hit my computer and right click C:\ and hit properties hit the tools tab check disk button just hit ok and you will recieve a message do you want to schedule a check disk hit ok and reboot your computer will reboot then start a check disk then when you are back to your desktop go back to check disk but this time we are checking for lost clusters hit ok this will take twenty minutes but your system is ready to go with all kinnd of room on your desktop. good luck hope i was helpful to you

  3. . . . . You compressed your c drive?  Uhm, that is really not good.  If you  tried to uncompress and put everything back and that didnt work, I do not think there is a workaround.  I think you have to reformat.  Or at the very least reload windows.  But a reformat would be better, especially since you were low on space.

For future reference?  Don't do that.
