A few years ago i got caught wreckless driving and without 'P' plates i got to fines and didnt pay them... They suspended my licences and in order to get it back i had to pay the fines which i did. The other day i recieved a Notice of Intention to Suspend Licence in the mail it was from the wreckless driving charge 2 years ago which i already paid. I refuse to pay the HUGE fine again but I dont want to loose my license again either. I dont have a reciept of the payment as it was 2 years ago. Is it legal for them to do issue the fine 2 years after the offence anyway?? How do i get out of this situation?

  1. yes.

  2. how did you pay the "huge " fine?im supposing in cash, right???yeah ok,no receipt, you pay umm, again,or you can go to the clerk of the courts office with the original citation number and they can look it up and see if you actually did pay it the first time.and yes, they can still fine you two years later, time does not dissipate fines,in fact it increases them, late fees, warrant fees etc.happy motoring! And maybe with a wreckless driving charge, you should reconsider the whole driving thing and start using public transportation.

  3. You should be able to go to the Circuit Clerks Office of that county and type your name in the "search". This will pull up everything you ever had done it court. Traffic, Criminal and Civil (like lawsuits or divorce). Find the part about the fine that was issued and it should say that you paid it. There's no way in h**l it should take them two years to figure out you never paid a fine.

Also, you'll have to go to your bank and have them manually look up the check you wrote to prove you paid it. Just give them the most narrow time frame you can, such as Nov 1st-31st in 2006. Unless you paid cash, there's a record of the transaction at your bank. Then get it taken care of as fast as possible. If they suspend your license over something you paid TWO YEARS AGO, just imagine how long it'll take to correct.
