It amazes me that both our countries take comfort in the other being out as well ! Do we take the love-hate thing to far, i must admit the Kiwis losing makes our loss easier to take.

  1. I think the love-hate relationship between NZ and Australia is good. It gives us competition, a sense of Pacific Pride, joy and rage in each others wins and losses, and of course the ANZACS...Its much healthier then the love-hate relationship that goes on between European neighbours...

  2. Both your countries must be so sad!!!

I believe that it could have been similar confort taking if we would have lost and the british as well...crying probably because of the SH suprematie!!

This is out of the subject but I think that France was even more motivated knowing that England won..with the possible semi against them.

Congrats to the Aussie team which is surely very good like the ABs but in one game every thing can happen at this level of the competition.

  3. kind of puts rugby in perspective now doesnt it!! hahaha and yes just quietly, was extremely happy that the aussies were finally out of the way!!! ''it made our trip to the finals that much more enjoyable not to mention easier"

the love - hate sporting rilvalry between our countries have been raging for decades, and man.... I love it any win (to us and loss to the ockers) proves to ourselves as supporters that we are a better far more superior country lol.

omg see its still coming out!! I best be going......lol

oh yes and it is sad that both teams are out now.... oh well back to my day job!

  4. Come off it, Nola. Be real.

  5. We all want to win the World Cup. All that needs to happen now is South Africa being taking out this afternoon. I have all my charms and beads and i am praying for a S.A. victory.  We have to keep the southern hemisphere flag flying high

  6. When I found out you guys lost I was pretty happy. A semi-final against England sounded much less daunting than one against the Aussies. I didn't wanna see George Gregan yelling: "four more years" at our players again.

After we lost though it was kind of comforting. Knowing that we are not the only really good team to mess it up against a team we were expected to dominate.

But it is also a shame. The two most attacking, expansive and innovative teams in the world are gone. The rest of the teams play the game in such a dull way (accept for Fiji who do not have much hope of winning).

Is this going to be a new era of rugby? Games are going to dominated by big and slow forwards, the only points are scored off a boot and games are dominated by tight defences and tactical kicking??

I have to admit, I didn't enjoy seeing you ockers cry. Larkham was balling his eyes out. Poor sods.

  7. Well, I look at it as something that will cement the ANZAC bond even more. NZ and Aussie are one country in my mind, we've been through a lot together and we now share the pain of defeat together. But we'll both be back with a vengeance. It's just so weird that we both lost to teams that were all but written off and both losses were  by 2 points. Come to think of it, NZ lost the final against S.A in 95 by 2 points as well.

  8. Yeah I must admit after watching the Wallabies lose..it kind of did help ease the pain of our loss.  For some strange reason i've still got Mortlock's crying face embedded in my mind.  Usually seeing tears coming from a Wallaby brings joy to any Kiwi..but this time I just felt so sad for them.

The Tri-nations teams are still the best Rugby teams in the World =)

  9. Im a kiwi and if australia made it thru to the semis while we didnt, they would have bagged us out until 2011, so it kind of puts us in the same boat of having to deal with such a tough loss

  10. I think vice versa is the case....now we can comfort each other lol.

Besides I think the Bledisloe Cup or Tri Nations is more important to us than the world cup.
