What is the fastest and cheapest way to get there on a Tuesday? My hostel is located at 24 Ladbroke road, Notting Hill

My flight is around 13:00.

Also, how long would it take and approximate cost?

  1. fastest would probably be by train ... take the tube to Kings Cross, take the Thameslink train to Luton and the shuttle bus to the airport ... look at www.thetrainline.com/ for train times and ticket prices

cheapest would probably be by coach ... tube to Victoria, walk along Buckingham Palace Road to Victoria coach station ... look at www.nationalexpress.com/ for times and prices

  2. Two possible ways that spring immediately to mind:

The Easybus/Green Line 757 coach. The nearest place it stops to your hostel is at Marble Arch - which, depending on how much luggage you have or what you feel like, you could either walk to (I reckon it's a 30 min walk max) or get a bus (several routes, including 94 and 148).

The coaches run every 15-30 minutes:See timetable here

    http://www.easybus.co.uk/gb/routesGBsub_...

The coach journey takes about an hour and a quarter, and single fares seem to start at £4.25 - but can go up to at least £7.25 (and are cheaper if you book them online in advance - you will need a printer to print out the ticket)

Or you could go by train, from Kings Cross (the Thameslink/First Capital Connect platforms, which are separate from all of the others, and underground - very close to the main entrance to St Pancras station) to Luton AIrport Parkway station. Fares cost £9.90 (but you would need to add the cost of getting to Kings Cross from Notting Hill - you could get the circle line directly and it shouldn't take much longer than 20 minutes : it'll cost £4 if you don't have an Oyster Card) . The trains are very frequent, and take between 37 and 70 minutes, depending on which stops they make. See the timetable here http://www.firstcapitalconnect.co.uk/con...

    - - I would probably recommend the train as being more reliable and more comfortable - and less likely to be delayed.

  3. The fastest and cheepest way is by the Underground

From Notting Hill Gate go Eastbound on the Central Line (Red) untill you get to Oxford Circus. Once there Change to the Victoria Line (Bright Blue) To Kings Cross St. Pancras. From there on you will be able to get a train to Luton Airport station which will take between 35 - 60min depending on the train. That will cost something around £12 adding on the underground will be £18 (approx) The underground journey should will take 20min giving you a total of between 55 - 80 minute journey costing £18.

    Have Fun!!!!

    below are links to:

    a) Underground map - Showing you how to travel to King's Cross St. Pancras. A map for on the day will be available at Notting Hill Gate, This will be usefull for present and future London experiances and can act as a sourvenir
