Nottingham Forest striker faces several months out
Nottingham Forest striker Dexter Blackstock is facing several months on the sidelines after suffering an injury in the 2-0 Football League Championship win over Cardiff City on Saturday 20 November.
The 24-year-old will undergo a scan on Tuesday 23 November where it is likely to be revealed that he has a cruciate knee ligament injury that will require surgery.
The former England Under-21 international had come on as a substitute in the game and netted the second goal, his fifth goal in 17 League appearances this season, before suffering the injury.
Manager Billy Davies told the BBC of his disappointment at losing the player and hinted that he could be ready to enter the loan market for a temporary loan replacement for former Southampton forward Blackstock.
He said: "I am very disappointed for the lad, the whole club wishes him well. The fans and everybody wish him well and it's a very big blow for us.
"We will have a look at (the loan market) of course and see what's available and if the right one is there we will certainly try and get something done. We don't want to bring players in who are not the
right type, they have got to do the right thing."
Forest are currently sitting in sixth place and are pushing for a return to the English Premier League after finishing in third place and losing in the play-offs last season. They have not played in the
top flight of English football since the 1998-99 campaign.
