Nottingham Greyhound Stadium ready to stage mega events
Nottingham greyhound stadium is on the outskirts of Nottingham, just a couple of miles away from the central city. Located in heart of the country, the stadium is the home of greyhound racing in England.
Not only quality racing events, the stadium offers plenty of entertaining at affordable prices. It not only has a wonderful restaurant, but also other facilities for the spectators.
The officials at Nottingham design the schedule every season, however, the stadium is due to host racing events on every Monday, Friday and Saturday throughout the year. The venue stages an additional BAGS meeting on Tuesday morning.
British Greyhound Racing Board declared it ‘Central Region Racecourse of the Year’ in 1998-1999. After just a gap of one year, the glory once again returned to Nottingham in 2001-2002. Nottingham hosts plenty of mega events every season. Among the major
meetings are:
The Futurity Cup (January - 500m Puppy Event)
The Grolsch Grand Prix (April - 680m)
The Betfred Select Stakes (July/August – 500m)
The Betfred Select Stayers Stakes (July - 730m)
The Caffreys Puppy Classic (August - 500m Puppy Event)
The National Oaks (September - 500m b*****s only)
The Autumn Puppy Cup (October - 500m Puppy Event)
The Produce Stakes (October - 500m British-Bred Event)
The Betfred Eclipse (November - 500m)
The Stadium Bookmakers National Sprint (December - 305m)
The imminent big clash is the Caffreys Puppy Classic, which is set to get underway on Monday, August 27th. It has attracted plenty of powerful hounds from different town. The 500-metre Caffreys Puppy Classic Trial Stakes were held on Monday, August
6th.
The opening trial was dominated by Peacemaker, who outsmarted Droopys Hope by three quarters of a length. Romeo You Decide justified his high odds by displaying a wonderful performance. After starting the race from the fourth trap, he led at the first bend,
and eventually seized the top rank by half a length.
The third trial meeting saw Rince Cosmo upsetting the 9-4 favourite, Kowloon Conner, by 2¾ lengths. The fourth and final Caffreys Puppy Classic Trial Stakes on Monday was won by Killieford Deal, who comfortably sealed victory by five and a quarter lengths.
Nottingham is set to produce mega entertainment this season, as many big events are lined-up after the Caffreys Puppy Classic.
