Nottingham Produce Stakes preview: heats one and two
The first round of the 2010 Nottingham Produce Stakes is set to start on Monday. Eight heats will eliminate half the field leading into the following Monday’s second round. The £15,000 final is scheduled
for 13 October.
Heat one
Trap one will house Shes The Star, a hound that rarely takes the lead in the first half of a race, but often is in first by the finish line. She’s won six of her last eight, and typically races at the
A2 grade. She should have little difficulty finishing in the top three, and a good start will almost assure her of a first place finish.
In trap two is Ucangobut, who finished over 10 lengths behind the winners of her last two races. She hasn’t won a race since May, but has three sixth place finishes since then. She is an easy one to avoid
betting on.
Kilmurvy Romance will start in the third trap. She has shown the ability to win A3 races, but has yet to perform well in an A2 race. A top three finish, and a trip to the second round, is not out of the
question, but winning the heat is.
In trap four is Lode Ranger, and experienced A2 racer who has won two of his last five. He’s another hound that uses strong finishes to win races, and it could come down to a tight finish between him and
Shes The Star.
Hurry On Kitty will go from trap five. She’s not won since winning three straight in the spring. She does have four second place finishes since those wins, but they two of them came in A4 races.
Mill Jaguar could finish in the top three from trap six. His trainer is Charlie Lister, and he’s won two of his past three races. That combination makes Jaguar hard to ignore.
Heat two
Untill The End will race from trap one in the second heat. After winning consistently in A3 and A5 races, The End has not been able to win since moving up to A2. He does have a couple top three finishes
at the A2 grade, but the competition in this race is probably going to be too much for him.
In trap two is Saint Jack, who won has won four of his last seven races. He tends to do well as a longshot, but like The End, he may have trouble competing against this group.
Vatican Seamus has won four of his past five races, but hasn’t seen any action since July. She could come back and pick up where she left off, or he could have too much rust to shake off. If the odds
are long she could be a good hound to take a chance on. She’ll go from trap three.
Zider Zee is a good bet to finish in the top three from the fourth trap. She raced in an A1 race for the first time in her career on 18 August, and took second place.
In trap five is another strong racer, Supreme Cannon. He has won his past two races, one an A1 race and the other an A2 race. He should be the favourite in this race, and will at the very least advance
to the second round.
Fabulous Path will go from the sixth trap. She’s had mixed success, and is coming off two third place finishes. She is another good bet if the odds are long enough.
