Nottingham Produce Stakes preview: heats seven and eight
Nottingham will host the first round of the Produce Stakes with eight heats on Monday. The £15,000 final is scheduled to go on 13 October. Heats seven should produce an interesting mix of contenders for
the category one prize, one of the biggest in greyhound racing.
Heat seven
In the first trap is Eye Catcher, who looks to be fully capable of catching a ride to the second round of the Produce Stakes. She recently raced in her first A1 race and took third. She has not finished
outside of the top three in her last 12 races.
Miles Better will go from trap two. He has not won in his last seven races, but won three out of four before that. The competition in heat seven could be too much for him though.
In trap three is Romeo Liberty. He’s won three of his past five, and has booked some decent times over 480m, but hasn’t raced since July. It would be a surprise if he finished above fourth.
Cherubinyo, in trap four, has won A2 races in the past, but has been inconsistent in recent races. In his past eight, a mixture of A2 and A3 races, Cherubinyo has not won, but has four second place finishes.
He reach second in this one as well.
Boys Of Winter should be the favourite with four wins in his past seven, including one in an A1 race, but he is terrible at getting out of the traps quickly. He should be able to crack the top three in
this race, and maybe even win it, but his poor starts often prevent him from performing well.
In trap five is Lookoutforzeus. He’s won his last two in a row, and three of his past five. His recent win was an A3 race, but he could easily break into the top three in this heat.
Heat eight
Micky Robbie has won six of his past seven races, and will race from trap one in the final heat. Expect a top three finish in this heat from Robbie.
In trap two is Dickybo Den, whose last seven races have been at the A2 grade, but Den only has one win in those races. Den often gets off to good start, but has trouble finishing.
Coming from trap three is Grafton Come By, a young racer that was winning until she jumped from A6 to A3 three months ago, since then she has only one top three finish.
Rainman Reg will go from trap four. He’s finished in the top three in his past six, and could easily continue that trend.
Telmarcs Hondo usually runs races of 470m in length, and often has strong finishes. The extra 30 metres in the Produce Stakes could help Hondo move into one of the top three spots.
Knockies Comrade will try to win the final heat from trap six. With two second place finishes in his last two races, both A1 races, he has a good chance to finish in first.
