Nottingham Produce Stakes round one: heats three, four and five
The first round of the Nottingham Produce Stakes began Monday with eight heats. Each race is over 500m and is worth £100. The second round is set to go Friday, and the final is scheduled for 13 October.
Heats three and four saw some surprise results.
2010 Nottingham Produce Stakes - Heat three

In the third heat, 6-4 race favourite, Odell Knight, managed to work his way into the second round with a third place finish, but he did not look very impressive, losing to 12-1 longshot Telmarcs Swift
and Rock It Luanchlo.
None of the racers got off to a particularly good start in this one, but Luanchlo was able to take the lead on the first bend despite coming from the sixth trap and staying wide as she passed the field.
She won the race by ½ a length over Swift with a time of 30.53 seconds. Knight finished 5¼ lengths back of Swift.
Captain Crush was expected to finish in the top three with 11-4 odds, but he didn’t take the second bend well and fell back from the leaders. He finished two lengths behind Knight in fourth.
A head behind Crash in fifth was Gert Lush, another hound who many expected to see in the second round. The other longshot of the race, Rock It Fornorma (12-1), finished in last place.
2010 Nottingham Produce Stakes - Heat four

The fourth heat featured 5-2 joint favourites, Rock It Diva and Lookoutforjethro, but only one of them qualified for the second round. Diva got off to the best start of this group from trap six, and led
for the duration of the race. She finished in first place, 2 lengths ahead of Madeley with a time of 30.68.
Madeley was a 7-1 longshot, but managed take second place by ¾ of a length ahead of Fabulous Passage. Lookoutforjethro had trouble on the third bend and ended up six lengths behind Passage in fourth place.
Southoe Gold finished in fifth, and Rushett Rogue came in last.
2010 Nottingham Produce Stakes - Heat five

The fifth heat produced some interesting results. Fabulous Promise, the 6-4 race favourite, won the race by 4¼ lengths over Flog The Speaker with a time of 30.74, but didn’t hold the lead until the final
stretch. The large margin of victory is impressive considering she took the lead so late in the race.
Speaker was a 10-1 longshot, so qualifying for the second round was unexpected, but even more interesting was 20-1 longshot, Lover Man, taking third place and a spot in the second round.
Wurz Zat finished in fourth place, just a head behind Lover, and expected second round qualifier, Odell Faith (5-2), finished in fifth place. In last was Afan Hawk.
