The target of 184 was not easy for the Northamptonshire batsmen even though the wicket was good for batting.
However, the best of the pitch was utilised by the Nottinghamshire team, which allowed them to post a solid total. The visitors did have some very good batsmen in their lie-up, but fell 23 runs http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Short-c90107 of the target set by the opposition.

end.
Northamptonshire’s openers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Robin-James-Boyd-Moss-c86323 Newton walked out in the middle with good hopes, but the latter failed to get going and had to take an early exit after adding just one run to the total.
The fall of wicket brought Ireland’s Niall O’Brien in the middle, who batted well alongside Bilal. The pair put together 58 runs for the second wicket partnership, guiding their team’s total to 70. They failed to score runs at a quick pace though, which
proved to be crucial in the outcome of the match.
O’Brien was the second man to be dismissed in the visitors’ innings after adding 26 runs to the total off the same number of deliveries. He struck two fours and one six in his knock.
Bilal was also unable to attack the opposition much and failed to capitalise on the start he got to his innings. He was dismissed after collecting 37 runs from 34 balls with the help of three fours.
