http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nottinghamshire-c826 county cricket club, on Thursday signed Australian opener Ed Cowan as their overseas player for the first half of the 2013 county season.
The 30-year-old Cowan, who has become a regular member of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746’s Test top order over the past twelve months, will be available to the Notts for seven rounds of LV = County Championship Division One, as well as eight CB40 fixtures, before joining the mighty Aussies in their Ashes campaign, which gets underway at Trent Bridge on July 10.
"I was very keen to play some Division One cricket and I'm pleased to have the opportunity to do that with Nottinghamshire," said Cowan while speaking to media reporters after agreeing to the deal at Trent Bridge. "There are a lot of good players at the Club and Trent Bridge is a great venue so I'm hoping to make a good contribution on and off the field," added the Australian opener, who averages 34 across 11 Tests, with a 136 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 as his best score to date.
Out of favour Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi shared on Wednesday that the newly appointed batting consultant Inzamam-ul-Haq has advised him to 'just relax and enjoy his game' and not think about any outside pressure concerning his current form.
The 32-year-old former Pakistan skipper, who was last week axed from the ODI squad for the tour of India, caught selectors’ and management’s eye by smashing back-to-back half centuries in one-day practice matches at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
The hard-hitting batsman, who smashed 52 off 40 balls on Monday and clubbed another whirlwind 92 off 64 deliveries on Wednesday, credited the improvement in his batting to the counselling sessions he has had with former skipper and one of the Pakistan’s all time batting greats, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Inzamam-ul-Haq-c64383.
"Inzi bhai told me to stop thinking about any outside pressures and just relax and enjoy the game, especially my batting," Afridi said. "When he first came to the camp, I thought he would be telling me about the technique and batting but he didn't say anything regarding that. [But] Inzi bhai said there is nothing wrong with my batting and I only need to get my confidence back," he added further.

While speaking to media reporters, the legendary left-arm swinger said that if Afridi’s form was not satisfactory then the selectors should have dropped him for the T20Is as well, adding that senior players like him will be needed in the pressure games against India.
"I don't understand what the selectors are thinking. If they consider him out of favour, they shouldn't have picked him for the T20 matches as well," Wasim told reporters here. "Afridi is a senior player and someone of whom the opposition is always worried about. In http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, you need experienced players to handle the pressure and tension," he added.
