Although the first innings total was a decent one for the hosts, they would have wanted to score more than 350, especially after electing to bat first at the toss.
This was a very good opportunity for the Durham team, as they could have taken a solid first innings lead after positing a massive total. However, the team failed to make a big impression and were all out for 195 runs.

However, the innings was stabilised by Blackwell and South Africa’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dale-Benkenstein-c1302. The pair put together 91 runs for the fifth wicket partnership before the Proteas player was sent back to the pavilion after collecting 49 runs to the total.
Just a few runs later, Blackwell was also dismissed, putting the visitors under immense pressure. He did a very god job for his side though, collecting 52 runs with the help of six boundaries.

None of the lower-order players managed to make a significant impression, as the entire team was dismissed for 195 runs.
