In the first match of the day, Lancashire amassed a staggering total of 178 runs for the loss of four wickets in their Friends Life T20 match against Nottinghamshire, after they were invited by the latter to bat first, at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.
With the prevailing monsoon rains in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, the match began with a delay, but luckily it was not reduced and fans were in for a whole 20-over game.
Nonetheless, with the looming possibility of rain later in the day, the side batting first, needed to bolster a big total to prevail in case Duckworth Lewis Method was to be used in the game.
Lancashire being among the top teams in this tournament, proved their superiority once again as openers SC http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Smith-c90598 rallied a fantastic opening stand for their team by smashing the bowlers right from the word go, aiming to score a big total on the board.
The two batsmen were just too good for the Nottinghamshire bowlers to stop, and the crowd that had gathered to support the home boys was utterly dejected by watching their bowlers get smacked all around the park by the touring team.
Finally after being smashed for 119 runs, the hosts broke the partnership, by grabbing the wicket of Smith, who faltered after hammering an innings of 56 runs off 41 deliveries.
Moore was then joined by skipper, SJ Croft, and the two continued the batting onslaught to obliterate Nottinghamshire.
The opener was then the second wicket to fall from his team, as he was caught by Gurney, off the bowling of A Carter, after smashing an astounding innings of 80 runs off 58 deliveries.
Notts made a comeback at this time, as after just a run, they grabbed their third wicket on the demise of KR Brown, who failed to open his account.
DJ Pattinson then decided it was time for him to grab a wicket for his team, as he dismissed Lancashire’s wicketkeeper/batsman, GD Cross for three runs.
With the skipper unbeaten on 31 runs, the batting side managed to bolster an amazing total on the board, and it will now be interesting to see how Notts will go from here when they come out to chase the required target.
