Nottinghamshire v Scotland –Clydesdale Bank 40 (Group B) – Match Update – Nottinghamshire secure 88-run victory
Aided by a host of half-centuries, and 3-wicket hauls by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Voges-c925 and Graeme White, Nottinghamshire cruised to an easy 88-run win over Scotland in the ongoing Clydesdale Bank 40 at Trent Bridge on July 22.
Despite the efforts of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Scotland-c756 found it hard to restrict the opposing team after Nottinghamshire won the toss and elected to bat first on what proved to be a fairly low and slow pitch.
Goudie got Scotland off to a promising start, dismissing opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Samit-Patel-c2426 (82) and Adam Voges (64) proved difficult forces to contend with.
Hales and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Huzefa-Mohammed-Patel-c63657 then set up the highest partnership of the match – an 86-run stand which got their side up to 241.
Patel was finally dismissed by Goudie in the 38th over, and some death over contributions by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Riki-Wessels-c2319 (3) and skipper Chris Read (2) got Nottinghamshire up to 265 by the end of 40 overs, at the expense of 5 wickets.
The target proved too much for Scotland, who were unable to withstand the assaults of Voges (7.4-0-37-3), White (8-0-42-3), and Patel (8-0-39-2). Symes (34) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Flannigan-c2230 (38) remained the only two batsmen who managed to register respectable scores for their side. The remainder of the batting order crumbled in the face of the opposition, and Scotland found themselves cut off, all out, at 177, by the end of 36 overs.
Their 88-run victory sees http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hampshire-c789, the top team on the Group B points table, while Scotland’s defeat sees them continuing to flounder at the bottom of the group.
