Notts County boss set to make changes to playing staff
Notts County manager Paul Ince says he is ready to make wholesale changes to the playing squad after the side dropped into the relegation zone of the Football League One table.
The club have lost their last four league games, including a loss against Colchester on 23 October, Southampton on 30 October, Exeter on 13 November and Tranmere Rovers on 20 November, leaving them three points behind 20th-placed Plymouth Argyle.
As a result, former Blackburn Rovers and MK Dons manager Ince, who has only been in charge for the last three games, has declared that his current squad is not good enough and is ready to make big changes to the playing staff when the transfer window reopens
in January, if he can get some players out the door.
Ince is looking to bring in more players comparable to the calibre of Lee Miller, the Scottish striker he signed from Football League Championship outfit Middlesbrough (on loan until January).
He told the BBC, "I don't think we have the quality, and to bring players in, you have to get players out. As things stand it is going to be a tough time. We want to bring in quality players like Lee Miller, we are talking about a near million-pound player
here and that's the quality we want.
"We need that all over the park and that can only happen if we start moving players out. I looked at the average age of the squad and it's 27. That's not good and we need to lower that."
Before the transfer widow reopens for business and Ince can strengthen the side with permanent signings, County will play Swindon, Brentford, MK Dons, League leaders Brighton, Rochdale and Plymouth in the league as they aim to move away from the foot of
the table.
