Is this pedal any good? If it isn't can you suggest another distortion or multi-effects pedal that's under/around $100

  1. Cheap multi effects are never gonna give you quality I'm afraid, I would avoid them. I've never heard of a Nova distortion pedal, and if I may be so bold, makes me think it's not going to be one of the best. Boss and MXR distortions are fairly cheap and are used by many artists. They are the benchmark ones really. Also look at Proco TurboRAT and Electro Harmonix Big Muff.

Edit: Cobain used a boss ds-1, which is the number 1 classic distortion pedal, and it's plenty cheap.

the digitech will be able to imitate metal and grunge types of distortion. It won't do either of them as well as a "real" distortion pedal would, because it's a digital modelling unit rather than an actual distortion, but it's ok at what it does.

the boss ml2 I can't comment on because that's not my taste in pedals, but presumably it would do metal fine but couldn't do nirvana properly.

  2. I agree with Stephen. Man I would take the 100 bucks and go on ebay or Craigs list. Hit the pawn shops, look for Boss, Fulltone or something high end that is used.
