World number one, Novak Djokovic, managed a clean sheet at the Barclays Association of Tennis Professionals World Tour Finals in London by sweeping the eighth ranked Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, number one Briton Andy Murray and
the sixth ranked Czech star Tomas Berdych in the Round Robin clashes. It has been the first time in his career that he has won all three of his matches at the group stage which is quite an achievement. Djokovic was ecstatic to register three wins in his group.
He said, “For the first time I won all three of my group matches this year. This is very encouraging for me so I will try to focus on the semi-final now.”
He has topped the group and faces the player who ends second in the other group which contains Roger Federer, David Ferrer, Juan Martin Del Potro and Janko Tipsarevic. Most likely player who will make it to the semi-final of the
year-end finale is considered to be David Ferrer of Spain who is ranked fifth in the world just behind Rafael Nadal.
Recently, Djokovic faced a major setback and it was not the one on the court but at his home where his father is hospitalized for some lethal ailment. He was serious a few days earlier but the recent reports state that his father
is out of danger now. The respiratory system has malfunctioned that has caused difficulty in breathing which in some cases is considered deadly disease but the views of different magazines depict disparity in the consequences of the disease. However, anything
is disturbing for a player when his father is in a hospital and news is flowing around.
Djokovic stated in an interview, “It was (hard) and still is but having good news every day makes me happier, makes me play more relaxed on the court. I switch off on the tennis court. I try to think only about the match. And it’s
been working well so far. Every win means a lot for my family and me. But there are more important things in life, and that’s health. I guess that’s the priority now.”
The pain is there in his eyes but the Serb but he is fighting it out at the indoor hard courts of London to make sure that he goes home with some glory for his father that will probably help the old man to recover quickly.
