Novak Djokovic: The Serbian tennis ace
The Serbian Tennis star was born on 22nd May, 1987 in the city of Belgrade. The 23 years old Serbian is currently ranked number three in the world. He is the first Serbian who has triumphed in a Grand Slam singles Tournament. Novak won the Australian Open title back in 2008. He has also set the record of being the youngest tennis contester in the open who made his way into the semi-final stage of all the four Grand Slam tournaments. The Serbian also ended up in the United States Open championship as a runner up back in 2007 where as he won a bronze medal in the 2008 Olympics. In the same year, Djokovic also grasped the Tennis Masters Cup and has triumphed in a total of five Master Series Championships.
Djokovic was born to Srdn and Dijana in Belgrade. Two of his younger brothers namely Marko as well as Djordje also play the game of tennis with professional ambitions. Novak for the last four years has been going out with his former school mate called Jelena Ristic.
The right handed player started playing the game of tennis when he was as old as four years. Jelena Gencic, the Yugoslav tennis master was the first person who recognized his sporting talent at the age of eight years and said, “This is prodigious genius since Monica Seles”. He was sent to the tennis academy of Nikola Pilic’s located in Germany for a period of three months when Novak was just twelve years of age. Thus the Serbian tennis sensation started his international tennis career at a small age of fourteen.
